Rod and Anne had entrusted Pete with their beautiful and talented horses since 1983. Pete has ridden many great horses but the stand out as far as longevity, and remaining at ‘A’ grade for 14 years is a feat very few horses can and could ever claim.
Roanies career spanned from 2000-2014 with Pete.
SHE WON 221 RIBBONS, WINNING 62 DRAFTS (2 OF THEM JUVENILE COMPETITIONS).
ROANIES WON 4 HORSE TITLES AND ASSISTED PETE TO 20 OPEN RIDER TITLES.
Roanies will forever be a favourite of Pete’s as she was renowned for both her toughness and her sensitivity….”she never argued”. Obviously she was of perfect type and temperament to withstand 14 years of intense competition and travel.
Roanies greatness began with her breeding, she is by spinifex who has left his mark on the cow horse industry, and out of clover foxy lady who was a solid broodmare with many great performers, including the ones Pete had much success with. These were such as DOCS CHEXA (also listed on this page), FRECKLES CHEX, PEPPY CHEX, BATTLERS CHEX, STARETTA CHEX, and grandson SNAPLA. We truly believe a strong mare line is the key to breeding a great horse, and this mare line is very dominant.

Pete owned Response since he was a young horse, and he was always ‘special’.
His career began in 2002, he won a Novice horse title and open horse title. He had 37 wins and 134 placings (48 of those were 2nds).
We retired Response in 2015 he was fit and healthy to be a foal sitter for his girlfriend Roanies foals!!

Owned by Rod & Anne Carpenter CHEXA was one of Pete’s all-time favourites. She was a half-sister to the mighty Roanies Chex, and she “was the best cutout horse I ever rode”
Pete campaigned Chexa from 1999 to 2004, in this time they won 18 drafts, 42 places and 24 cutouts and cutting comps. She won the Novice Horse Title in 2000 with a 6th in the Open Horse Title, she placed in the Warwick Gold Cup and won the Canning Downs in 2001 and an Open Horse Title.
We truly believe a strong mare line is the key to breeding a great horse, and this mare line is very dominant as seen with Roanies Chex and her progeny or other sisters that Pete campaigned. - Won 2 drafts, 14 placings (2 seconds), and 2 saddles.
- Won OPEN HORSE TITLE 2015-16 for the 2nd time.
- Warwick – Marnies won the aggregate, he had a very consistent campaign with 10 runs for an average of 85.1. He placed in all four drafts entered in GOLD CUP 11th, CANNINGS 9th, Stallion 7th, Ladies 7th. He won another saddle for the highest aggregate horse over the 2 Warwick drafts.
- He won the bareback cutout again at Chinchilla and finalled at both Condamine and Chinchilla.

Elegance is owned by the Winks family. She is a beautiful mare that Pete campaigned for a couple of years. She is now ridden by the whole family and they still compete on her.
Pete campaigned her from 2012 – 2014, she won 5 drafts, and won another 32 ribbons, running 2nd to Harry in the Novice Horse Title. She also placed in ladies’ drafts, was 3rd in the Chinchilla Grandfather Clock and 3rd in the Condamine Bell. Great type and temperament, we were lucky to have this quality of mare for the short time.

Secret was bred and owned by Bryony. She is a double cross of Romeo. Briefly campaigned due to work commitments Secret won her Novice in 2006, ran 2 ladies seconds and was equal 4th in the Landmark Classic Open draft in 2009, before she retired with an injury. Fondly remembered in the finals and picking up a ribbon, Secret is a lovely type and has a trainable temperament passing it onto her foals.

A soft easy going mare that seemed to do it all easily. She is a big stretchy mare that is being retained to teach the next generation how it is all done!!

Grace was purchased in 2012 from Libby Ingram, and Bryony acquired ownership as she was such a soft natured, easy going, older mare. She was trained and ready to have a bit of fun on whilst Bryony had a baby to consider. Gracie achieved 13 places in 3 years of competition including 4 seconds in big Novice drafts.
